Biwater Services comprising of Biwater Treatment and Farrer Consulting have grown significantly in the last 4 years and turnover has increased from £65 million in 2005 to £145million. We currently have a very strong order book for the forthcoming years and are known worldwide for our technical expertise.
Farrer Consulting have achieved £14 million T/O in their first year of trading and achieved a £15.9 million T/O for 2007/8. Farrer have been established as consultants within Biwater for several years and now, as a start up company in theory, are pushing heavily into various environmental market places in the UK and Internationally. We have a very strong presence in the Central Belt of Scotland and often gain many opportunities through Biwater International and Biwater Treatment.
Due to recent awards in the Thames region we are looking to strengthen our design team with a Senior Civil Engineer. You will provide superior engineering design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will report directly to the Civil Design Manager.
Duties/responsibilities of the role will include;
• Produce civil design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively
• Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department
• Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to Farrer in order to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are co-ordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole
• Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts
• Assist in supervising and developing staff
• Ensure designs take account of environmental issues
• Ensure that design takes full regard of all health and safety requirements
Knowledge/Experience
• Understand the principles of water and sewage treatment
• Have experience of controlling members of staff in designing civil aspects of water and sewage treatment plants
Education/Qualifications
• Preferable – Civil Engineering degree – 4 years relevant experience
• Minimum – Civil Engineering HND – 5 years relevant experience
