This was a £16M scheme of work to reduce the risk of cryptosporidium and to enhance the capacity at Cumwhinton water treatment works. The existing works were also upgraded in order to comply with current United Utilities standards. Construction was organised and carried out around the live site and depended upon a close working relationship with United Utilities operators.
