Project Summary:
The project involved the construction of a Lintott Series 6 chemical dosing unit with 5m³ of chemical storage with a duty/standby dosing system.
A tanker delivery area was constructed with a dedicated drainage system linked to a chemical interceptor chamber
A dosing chamber and flocculation channel with associated mixer were installed.
A lifting davit was provided for mixer removal along with a concrete pathway for pedestrian and trolley access.
Additional de-sludge capacity was provided by way of a new 60m³ sludge holding tank along with high level sludge inlet pipework, overflow and decant pipework arrangement and a tanker draw off point.
New pressure transducers were fitted to each sludge holding tank for level control.
Project Scope
- Chemical dosing unit
- Chemical interceptor chamber
- Dosing chamber and flocculation mixer
- Additional sludge storage capacity
- Chemical delivery tanker road and bund
- Tanker turning road modifications
- Site lighting
Added Value/Benefits
- The project was part of a trial utilising a programming tool called critical chain project management (CCPM).
- CCPM identifies potential bottlenecks and risk to programme delivery through the monitoring and managing of a ‘buffer’, ensuring that critical chain delays are prioritised and mitigated by management action.
- This assisted in the scheme being completed on time and with zero defects.
Additional flooring section provided and will be inserted upon mixer removal.
- Low level pressure transducer installed for level measurement, eliminating the need for high level access.
- Sludge tank benching falls to one side of the tank to provide a flat manway access point.
