A cost out plan was developed by the team in order to reduce or avoid targeted costs. The cost out plan is a structured and systematic approach to identifying and delivering opportunities that may contribute to faster delivery and operation. This was showcased by members of the regional team at the Severn Trent ‘Being the Best’ exhibition held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham where the team won the ‘Marketplace’ award.
Communication of health and safety was paramount and as such a two day event was held on site, focussing on various aspects of health and safety. This included presentations on behavioural safety, health and safety statistics, near misses and corporate responsibility. The event was attended by representatives from Biwater, Severn Trent and our supply chain.
The team at Wanlip were presented with a silver award in March 2009 for exceptional achievements under the Considerate Constructors Scheme, This commits contractors to a code of practice to be considerate and good neighbours as well as clean, respectful, safe, environmentally conscious, responsible and accountable.
